The Physical Activity Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention Unit at the University of British Columbia prides itself on being a leader in the development of effective primary and secondary prevention strategies. Our research team has been involved in numerous primary and secondary prevention initiatives including the evaluation and revision of Canada’s Physical Activity Guidelines for Adults and Older Adults, the creation of the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire for Everyone (PAR-Q+), the development of the new online screening form for at-risk individuals (ePARmed-X+), the development of clinical exercise prescriptions for various prominent conditions, the Physical Activity Line (now Physical Activity Services, HealthLink BC; https://www.healthlinkbc.ca/physical-activity), the Hearts-in-Training program, the Aboriginal RunWalk Program, the HealthBeat program, the Honour Your Health Challenge, the ActNow BC Road to Health Community Tour and the ActNow BC Road to Health: Aboriginal Community Tour, and the Getting Games Fit program (for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games).
